Last night, post gym, I sat with my dinner and watched a film. Nothing unusual there, I know, but: this is one of the very short list of films that left me speechless and open mouthed. Last night I watched A History Of Violence.
Whilst I’ve seen the work of David Cronenberg (Crash – the supposedly obscene one not the recent one about over acting and racism) before I don’t think anything could have prepared me for the brutality of the violence in the film and the cold, matter of fact way that it was dished out by one Viggo Mortensen who was still stuck in my mind as Aragorn – a role which I felt he embodied perfectly. To see him dispatch people in such a way was shocking to say the least. A superb film, perfectly paced and well scored by Howard Shore (another LOTR connection). Having enjoyed A History.. I think I will seek out Eastern Promises which pairs the actor and director again and, if I remember correctly, saw the ex-Ranger turned King of Men nominated for an Oscar.
Whilst I’m still composing my Paris J’taime post – nothing to do with the film – I would like to share one question:
Why no Coke BlaK in the UK???!!! This stuff is like nectar from the Gods for me: Coke with coffee!! Is it because of the name?? I think I shall email the mooks at Coca-Cola and see if they can climb down from their cash mountain long enough to answer me and give me access to it so I don’t have to go to France to wrap my gums round this beautiful drink.
Hmm…
“Are you there Coca-Cola, it’s me Tony”
