They really should be big: Last Days of April. I think the line up changes a fair bit but it’s the band of one Karl Larsson and has been around for more than 11 years.
Hailing from Stockholm, this band makes a wonderful noise and I’ve had the benefit of seeing them live twice now – one was a Karl Larsson ’solo’ show – and both times were small venues to only a handful of people. It always strikes me as odd that bands this good continue to make excellent albums – Might As Well Live made my Albums of 2007 list and Angel Youth remains one of my personal favourites- and still remain so unknown. Then again, if they got signed to a major some producer would probably make them sound like Coldplay and sap all the genuine emotive juice out of them.
Before I start this I’d like to point out that I genuinely love The Raconteurs. Consolers of the Lonely is an excellent album as is Broken Boy Soldiers.
Something has been bothering me for a while now about the guitar line from about 1:48 onwards in Old Enough and I’ve only just realised it. It’s nearly identical (if it’s not completely so) to that used in the start of Living On A Thin Line by The Kinks. C’mon if you’ve ‘borrowed’ a guitar lick that may not be too well known at least own up!
I can let go of the similarity between Steady As She Goes (another great song) and the Fun Lovin’ Criminals’ Scooby Snacks but c’mon: OWN UP! The money can’t be that big a deal.
